Don't forget to read the introduction to my children's Bible lessons first, if you haven't already.

Children's Bible Lesson about creation - Key Concepts
The key concepts that we focused on this week are:

  • God created everything.

  • Everything God created is good.

  • God rested on the seventh day.

You can also come up with your own key concepts.

kids Bible Verse
The Bible verse for this lesson is Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created heaven and earth.”
This Bible verse should be simple enough for your toddler to memorize after a week of practice.

Bible Story Tips

  • We read “God Created the World” beginning on page 1 of Bible-Time Stories and Rhymes children's storybook.

  • During story draw attention to the key concepts for this lesson.

  • After the first few readings, pause at certain points and let your child say the next word. For example, I read: “On day one God said, “Let there be….” At that point my daughters shout out “LIGHT!”

  • I ask questions that reflect the key concepts of the story. By the end of the week, the questions become more of a discussion as my girls talk about what they have learned from the story.

  • After the Bible story and question session, we stand up and do the interactive rhyme. After the first few times of doing the rhyme, I pause to let the girls finish the lines.

  • By the end of the week the girls are reciting entire rhyme (or the majority of the rhyme).

Prayer
After the story and rhyme, we say a prayer that is related to the Bible story. You can either have your children repeat after you or allow them to come up with their own prayer.

bible Song about creation

  • The Bible song for this week is "All Things Bright and Beautiful".

  • We cast the song from YouTube to the television, so our children can see the motions on the big screen.

bible Activities about creation

We did different Bible activities each day - related to the story of Creation.  We also have a selection of free Bible activities about Creation here.

Some activities included:

Creation Coloring Page

While the girls colored this Creation Bible Coloring page, we talked about the different things God created.

Creation Craft

During this craft, we talked about how God created the world and the girls named some of God's creations.

This Bible craft can be made by cutting out 2 hands from orange construction paper, 1 circle from blue construction paper and squares from green construction paper. (We used the Creation Craft found in the Bible Time Family Fun Pack.)

Creation Fingerplay

We did a Bible fingerplay where we put movement to what God created each day of the week. We did the finger play a few times. By the end of the week the girls could say what God created on which day.

Creation Sequence Cards

We did the Creation Sequence Cards daily and by the end of the week the girls recognized the order of Creation.

Creation cards can be made by gluing pictures of each day of creation on index cards. (We used the Creation Sequence Cards found in the Bible Time Family Fun Pack.)

Finding God in Nature

We took the girls outside so they can find God’s creations in nature.

Creation Wheel

Using this Creation Wheel activity, we discussed the different things God created.

Creation Mini Book

We went over the order of creation and the girls practiced their writing skills
using the
Creation Mini Book activity.
