Week 4 - The Tower of Babel -
Bible Time FUN Through the Bible
Kids Bible Lesson 4 - The Tower of Babel
Week 4 we taught the girls about the Tower of Babel. The Tower of Babel is a story that isn’t covered much in children’s Bible stories, but we wanted to teach it because it has some very important lessons. I hope you have fun learning this great story!
If you haven’t read the introduction to Bible Time yet, I recommend you read the outline about the Bible lessons for children first.
Children's Bible Lesson about the tower of babel - Key Concepts
The key concepts that we focused on this week are:
-
God wants us to praise him not ourselves.
-
We must build our lives on God’s foundation.
-
God does not want us to think we are better than anyone else.
You can also come up with your own key concepts.
Bible Verse for kids
The Bible verse for this lesson is Genesis 11:4 “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens”.
This Bible verse should be simple enough for your toddler to memorize after a week of practice.
Bible Story Tips
-
We read “The Tower of Babel” beginning on page 7 of the children's Bible Storybook called Bible-Time Stories and Rhymes.
-
During story, draw attention to the key concepts for this lesson.
-
Ask questions related to the story, for example, “Why did the Babylonians build the Tower of Babel?”
-
We taught our daughters about pride and humility and gave some examples they could relate to.
-
After the Bible story and discussion session, we stand up and do the interactive rhyme found in the Bible storybook.
Prayer
After the story and rhyme, we say a prayer that is related to the Bible story. You can either have your children repeat after you or allow them to come up with their own prayer.
bible Song about the tower of babel
-
The Bible song for this week is "Praise Him ‘til the Sun Goes Down".
-
We cast the song from YouTube to the television, so our children can see the motions on the big screen.
bible Activities about the tower of babel
We did different Bible activities each day - related to the story of Tower of Babel. We also have a selection of free Tower of Babel activities for children here.
The Bible Time Family Fun Pack includes all of the Bible activities printed for your convenience, learn more here. Some activities included:
tower of babel coloring Page
While the girls colored this Tower of Babel Coloring Page, we talked about how we need to have the right attitude in our hearts.
Building to please God bible Craft
During this Bible craft, we talked about different attitudes, behaviors and actions we can have to please God.
The girls had fun building their tool kit and talking about what things they can do to please God.
- The craft can be made by using pictures of different builder's tools and writing good behaviors on them. The tool box can be made with construction paper. (We used the Building to Please God Bible Craft found in the Bible Time Family Fun Pack).
Learning Languages Activity
During this activity we talked about language.
I explained to the girls that there was a time when the whole earth spoke one language, but while the people were building the tower, God gave the people different languages so they could not communicate to finish the tower.
We also talked about how the world is now full of many different languages. And we went over some of those languages in this Learning Languages Bible Activity.
Building Towers Bible Activity
What kid doesn’t like to build a tower out of blocks? My kids love it!
For this easy Bible activity about the Tower of Babel, we pulled out the Legos and the girls built the largest tower they could build.
- During this activity, I explained that the Babylonians built the tower so big because they wanted to make a name for themselves.
- I also reminded the girls that God wants us to praise him, not ourselves.
Build a Foundation on God Bible GAME
This was a fun Bible game that we played. I mixed up the tower cards and had my girls try to sort them from the biggest to the smallest. They did great once they got the concept!
- After they sorted the tower cards, we went over each layer and
explained how important it is to build our lives on the right
foundation
- The tower cards can be made by cutting card-stock paper
into different lengths (foundation being the longest) and writing
different attitudes, actions or behaviors on it.
(We used the tower cards found in the Family Fun Pack.)
Babel Shapes Bible Activity
Babel Shapes is another activity that the girls had fun working their way through. They did a great job getting the puzzle pieces in the right places using the Babel Shapes Bible Activity.
We went over the message on the puzzle.
Find the difference Bible Activity
During this activity, we explained how the world was different before the construction of the Tower of Babel.
They did a great job going through and answering each question about the story using the Find the Difference Activity.
