Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, than great treasure with trouble.

Which is better – having little with the fear of the Lord, or having great riches that bring trouble?

To me this answer is simple. The fear, or love and reverence, of the Lord is the key to true happiness. It has the greatest reward and it will save us from trouble. No assets or great income can bring the happiness, joy, and blessings that love and fear of God will bring.

The Bible teaches us that godliness, with contentment, is great gain (1 Timothy 6:6). No matter how much we gain in this world, we will carry nothing out. We must seek those spiritual things that will bring us eternal life in God -- righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience and meekness.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I am so blessed to have you in my life. Help me to always remember to love and to seek you above all other things in this world. Amen.
