He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God.”

Key thought

God brought the Israelites miraculously through the Jordan River and to the promised land because of his love and grace and to fulfill his promises to them. But he was also making an important statement about himself and his people.

He always wanted Israel to "reverence" him. God also wanted Israel's enemies to know the power of God. They did. And God won great victories for himself and his people because of their faith.

Prayer

Father God, help me to always treat you with the respect and reverence you deserve. I want to bring praise, honor and glory to you now and forever. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
