Part 2: Teaching Our Children About: The Love for God | FUN Ways to Teach Children to Love God
Teaching Our Children About: The Love for God
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. Deuteronomy 6:5
FOR...
... this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.1 John 5:3
BECAUSE...
...If anyone loves me (JESUS), he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. John 14:23
A heart lifted towards God will be filled with love and obedience. True love obeys. What a message of hope. Only when we truly love God will we willingly obey him. It is not enough to just teach our children the Ten Commandments or teach the word of God. Just the intellectual knowledge of what is on the pages of the Bible will change the heart. However, a love for God, the willingness to obey and do what God has said does result in a change. (James 1:23-26)
When we teach our children how much God loves us, and then why our response to Him must be wholehearted love, they will then understand and endure hard times and difficulties. Trust will develop in the young heart that learns complete loving dependency on God.
Here are 3 simple ways we can help our children to learn to love God with all their hearts and to obey Him in all things.
Use visual demonstrations. Much of what we learn comes from actually seeing it portrayed. Children are no different.
Sing songs of praises. Praising God in song is a fun way to express our love and adoration for God.
Be the example. Let them see you reaching out to God in prayer and acts of love.
